Hewlett Packard is set to introduce two new Pocket PC handhelds at Comdex next week. The company has leaked to CNet its plans for a mid-range model called the iPAQ h1910 and a high-end model called the iPAQ h5450.
While Garmin International licenced the Palm OS over a year ago, it has yet to release a device using it. This is about to change as the company is going to put out a GPS receiver running the latest version of the Palm operating system on it. Garmin has yet to say anything about this but Motorola, who will be supplying the processor, has jumped the gun and put out a press release on it.
Sharp and IBM have announced they will work together to develop the Enterprise Edition Zaurus - a Linux-based handheld that works on a foundation of IBM’s software. According to the two companies, this will offer seamless, wireless access to a wide range of enterprise applications.
The new h5400 Series iPAQs includes both Bluetooth and 802.11b, as well as a biometric fingerprint reader (more about that later). You’ll also notice that you can clearly see a microphone to the left of the fingerprint reader.
