It also has an integrated digital camera. It runs on Sprint’s CDMA 1xRTT wireless network, allowing it to transfer data at up to 144 kbps, though 40 to 60 kbps is a more realistic, real world, speed.

Pogo Technology was the developer of the Pogo, a wireless handheld that was available only in the UK and allowed users to surf the Web, plus send and receive email and SMS messages. Unfortunately, the company went out of business. Last month, its assets were acquired by a new company, Pogo Mobile Solutions, headed by Ran Mokady, the former Microsoft director of feature phone platforms. The new company includes many of the employees of the old one.

Last month, Motorola revealed that Garmin International was planning to release a Palm OS handheld with a built-in GPS receiver that uses a Motorola processor, though Garmin itself didn’t have anything to say about the device at that time. Now Garmin has announced that it has won a Consumer Electronics Association Best of Innovations Award for its upcoming iQue 3600, despite the fact that the company still has not yet announced this handheld.
