SoftMaker has released a free public beta version of PlanMaker for , a Excel-compatible spreadsheet application.


Though all PCs come with Excel, this doesn’t offer many of the features users have come to expect from using the desktop versions of these products, including charts and images. When a spreadsheet is edited on a , everything in it that Excel doesn’t support is stripped out.

PlanMaker for Pocket PC
This is not true of PlanMaker. This application is able to seamlessly convert back and forth Excel 5.0, 95, 97, 2000, XP, 2003, and Excel for Macintosh files into a format that can be used on the .

PlanMaker features include more than 320 functions, shape drawing, and more than 70 chart types in 2D and 3D. It also has a spell-checker.

When the public beta is finished, PlanMaker will be available for $49.95 through SoftMaker and several resellers.
